Stablecoin payments

Your prices in local currency.

Your customers pay in USDT or USDC while you price and keep your accounts in BWP. The checkout shows the asset, network, amount and address for each payment, and your merchant workspace tracks its confirmation. Assets, networks and limits depend on your account and its verification.

01

Link, checkout or API

Share a payment link, redirect to a hosted page or create payments through the API from your own site.

02

Exact instructions for every payment

The customer sees the asset, network, amount and address to use. Sending on the wrong network can lose funds.

03

Confirmation tracking

Fulfil only when the payment shows confirmed in your merchant workspace, never on the strength of a screenshot.

04

Know the risks

Stablecoins are designed to track the US dollar but can deviate. They carry issuer, market and network risks and are not bank deposits.

How it works

01

Create your business account

Register your business in Botswana and complete the required verification. Enabled features appear in your workspace.

02

Create the payment

Generate a link, a checkout or an API payment for the order amount.

03

The customer pays in stablecoins

The customer sends the exact asset on the stated network to the address shown for that payment.

04

Reconcile and fulfil

Track the confirmation in your merchant workspace, then process the order.

Accepting stablecoins in Botswana: what to check first

Botswana’s currency is the pula (BWP), issued by the Bank of Botswana. If stablecoin payments are enabled for your account, your customers pay in USDT or USDC, while your business still prices, invoices and keeps its books in BWP terms. Stablecoins are not pula and are not bank deposits: they carry issuer, market and network risk. Decide how you convert a BWP price into a stablecoin amount before you share a payment link, and record the BWP value of each order next to the on-chain payment.

01

Read NBFIRA’s notice on virtual asset providers

In a public notice dated 25 September 2026, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) cautioned the public against transacting with unlicensed virtual asset service providers, listed the providers it considers licensed under the Virtual Assets Act, 2025, and quoted section 9, which requires a licence to carry out or participate in a virtual asset business. Whether accepting stablecoins for your own goods or services falls within that definition is a legal question: check with NBFIRA or a qualified adviser before you start. Nothing on this page indicates that ZyndPay holds a Botswana licence.

02

Set the BWP price before the stablecoin amount

The Bank of Botswana’s exchange rate policy frames the external value of the pula, so the BWP value of a USDT or USDC amount moves over time. Fix the BWP price of the order first, note the conversion you used and when, and keep that record with the invoice. Before sharing the checkout, confirm the asset and network it shows are the ones your customer intends to send. For how stablecoin receipts should be treated in your accounts and tax returns, check with your accountant or tax adviser.

03

Fulfil on confirmation, refund on the same network

Release goods or services only after the payment shows as confirmed in your workspace. A screenshot, a transaction hash pasted in chat or a customer’s assurance is not proof of payment. If you refund, use the same asset and network the customer paid with, send to an address the customer confirms, and keep the order and on-chain records together. NBFIRA warns that using unlicensed providers exposes consumers to financial loss, fraud and absence of regulatory protection, and its notice gives contacts for verification or to report suspicious activity.

These official sources describe Botswana’s currency and the NBFIRA virtual asset licensing regime. They do not establish a ZyndPay licence, partnership, regulatory approval, or availability for your account.

FAQ

Your questions. Answered.

Can a business in Botswana accept USDT with ZyndPay?

If stablecoin payments are enabled for your account after verification, you can create USDT and USDC links, checkouts or API payments. Availability depends on your account and the checks that apply.

Do my customers in Botswana need a ZyndPay account?

No. Customers pay from the wallet of their choice, following the asset, network and address shown on the payment page.

How do I price in BWP?

You keep your prices and accounts in BWP. The stablecoin amount to pay is shown to the customer before payment; check the terms and fees in your workspace before you start.

How do refunds work?

Refund in the same asset and on the same network, to an address the customer confirms. Keep the reference of the original payment.

Does Botswana publish a list of licensed virtual asset service providers?

Yes. NBFIRA publishes the providers it lists as licensed under the Virtual Assets Act, 2025, and named them in its public notice of 25 September 2026. The list can change, so check the current version on NBFIRA’s website or contact NBFIRA directly.
