Stablecoin payments

Your prices in local currency.

Your customers pay in USDT or USDC while you price and keep your accounts in CVE. The checkout shows the asset, network, amount and address for each payment, and your merchant workspace tracks its confirmation. Assets, networks and limits depend on your account and its verification.

01

Link, checkout or API

Share a payment link, redirect to a hosted page or create payments through the API from your own site.

02

Exact instructions for every payment

The customer sees the asset, network, amount and address to use. Sending on the wrong network can lose funds.

03

Confirmation tracking

Fulfil only when the payment shows confirmed in your merchant workspace, never on the strength of a screenshot.

04

Know the risks

Stablecoins are designed to track the US dollar but can deviate. They carry issuer, market and network risks and are not bank deposits.

How it works

Stablecoin payments in Cabo Verde: what to check before you accept them

Cabo Verde’s currency is the Cabo Verdean escudo (CVE), and the Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV) holds the exclusive right to issue its notes and coins. If stablecoin payments are enabled for your account, your customers pay in USDT or USDC while your business keeps setting prices, invoices and accounts in CVE terms. Decide how you turn a CVE price into a stablecoin amount at checkout, record both figures for each order, and remember that a stablecoin is not a bank deposit: issuer, market and network risk stay with whoever holds it.

01

What the Banco de Cabo Verde has said

On 29 March 2018 the BCV published an alert on the risks faced by anyone who acquires, holds or trades virtual currencies. It relays supervisors’ warnings that these assets are not guaranteed by a central bank or national authority, are not legal tender and are very insufficiently regulated. Factor these warnings into your own risk assessment before deciding how much of your sales to receive in stablecoins, and present USDT or USDC as an option the customer chooses rather than the only way to pay.

02

The virtual-asset framework since 2023

Lei n.º 30/X/2023 of 21 June 2023, published in the Boletim Oficial, regulates the provision of services with virtual assets and the creation of digital banks. Aviso n.º 2/2024 of 28 May 2024 regulates the registration of entities that intend to carry out activities with virtual assets, and Lei n.º 41/X/2024 of 12 August 2024 sets the legal regime for digital services and e-commerce. These texts are not guidance tailored to your business: check with a qualified adviser in Cabo Verde which obligations apply to your sales and records.

03

Confirm, then fulfil; refund like for like

Before you ship goods or deliver a service, open the payment in your workspace and wait until it shows as confirmed for the exact asset, network and amount displayed on the checkout. A customer’s screenshot or transaction message is not proof of payment. If you agree a refund, send it in the same asset and on the same network the customer used, to an address they confirm in writing, and keep the order reference, the CVE price and the stablecoin amount together in your records.

These Banco de Cabo Verde and Boletim Oficial pages describe Cabo Verde’s currency and its texts on virtual assets. They do not establish a ZyndPay licence, partnership, regulatory approval, or availability for your account.
