Liberia’s currency is the Liberian dollar (LRD), issued by the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), which a 2021 Joint Resolution of the National Legislature authorized to print and mint a new family of Liberian currency. If stablecoin payments are enabled for your account, customers pay in USDT or USDC while your business keeps setting prices, issuing invoices and keeping its accounts in LRD terms. Stablecoins are not Liberian dollars and are not bank deposits: they carry issuer, market and network risk that your pricing and records should reflect.
In a public notice dated 15 May 2021, the CBL said it had not approved any license for The Abundance Community Coin (TACC), which planned to launch a cryptocurrency in Liberia, to transact financial business. It described the attempt to introduce a digital financial product without adherence to the required regulation as illegal and urged the public to exercise due caution. The notice concerns that one organization. Check with the CBL or a qualified adviser how current rules apply to your own activity.
Liberia’s Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) states that under the AML/CFT Act of 2021, reporting entities must identify, assess and monitor money laundering and terrorism financing risks and file suspicious transaction reports, currency transaction reports and other reports with the FIA. It names financial institutions, designated non-financial businesses and professions, and FinTech as reporting entities, listing virtual asset service providers under FinTech. Keep a clear record of each stablecoin order and its LRD value, and check with the FIA or your adviser whether your sector carries these duties.
Release goods or services only once the payment shows confirmed in your ZyndPay workspace, with the asset, network and amount that the checkout displayed. A screenshot, a transaction hash sent in a chat or a customer’s word is not proof of payment. If you refund, send the same asset on the same network to an address the customer has confirmed, and record the refund against the original LRD-priced order so your books stay consistent.
These Central Bank of Liberia and Financial Intelligence Agency pages describe Liberia’s currency, a 2021 central bank notice and AML/CFT reporting duties. They do not establish a ZyndPay licence, partnership, regulatory approval, or availability for your account.
