Stablecoin payments

Your prices in local currency.

Your customers pay in USDT or USDC while you price and keep your accounts in GMD. The checkout shows the asset, network, amount and address for each payment, and your merchant workspace tracks its confirmation. Assets, networks and limits depend on your account and its verification.

01

Link, checkout or API

Share a payment link, redirect to a hosted page or create payments through the API from your own site.

02

Exact instructions for every payment

The customer sees the asset, network, amount and address to use. Sending on the wrong network can lose funds.

03

Confirmation tracking

Fulfil only when the payment shows confirmed in your merchant workspace, never on the strength of a screenshot.

04

Know the risks

Stablecoins are designed to track the US dollar but can deviate. They carry issuer, market and network risks and are not bank deposits.

Taking stablecoin payments in The Gambia: price in dalasi, verify before you deliver

The Gambia’s currency is the dalasi (GMD), issued by the Central Bank of The Gambia, whose mandate under the CBG Act 2018 includes maintaining the stability of the currency. If stablecoin payments are enabled for your account, your customer pays in USDT or USDC, while your prices, invoices and books stay in GMD terms. Decide how you convert a dalasi price into a stablecoin amount and record the reference you used for each order. A stablecoin is not the dalasi and not a bank deposit: it carries issuer, market and network risk.

01

Check the regulatory position before you start

The Central Bank of The Gambia’s mandate includes directing and regulating the country’s financial, banking and currency system. The official pages cited here describe that mandate and the dalasi, but they do not set out a position on accepting stablecoins as payment. Before you rely on USDT or USDC receipts, check with the Central Bank of The Gambia and your legal or tax adviser how these payments should be treated for your type of business, and revisit that answer as the rules develop.

02

Keep records that would stand up to an AML review

The Gambia’s Financial Intelligence Unit was established under the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Financing Act 2012, and its mandate includes making information available to investigating and revenue agencies. The FIU’s published definition of money laundering covers acquiring or using property known to be the proceeds of crime. For each stablecoin order, keep the customer details you collected, the GMD invoice, the asset, the network and the transaction reference. Check with the FIU whether your sector has specific reporting duties, and pause any payment that looks unusual.

03

Deliver only after confirmation, refund like for like

Release goods or services only once the payment shows as confirmed in your ZyndPay workspace. A screenshot, a forwarded message or a customer’s word that funds were sent is not proof of payment. If you need to refund, return the same asset on the same network, to an address you have verified with the customer, and record the refund against the original GMD invoice. Settle disagreements from your own records rather than accepting a second transfer on a different network.

These Central Bank of The Gambia and Financial Intelligence Unit pages describe The Gambia’s currency and anti-money laundering framework. They do not establish a ZyndPay licence, partnership, regulatory approval, or availability for your account.
